Blogging is an important piece of the content marketing/inbound marketing puzzle. All the time you take crafting the perfect post for your audience is just part of the battle to break through the clutter and resonate with your audience. The next big effort is getting it read and (hopefully) shared. There are several ways you can drive social traffic to your WordPress blog:

  1. Go to each individual platform (LinkedIn, Google+, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) and publish the link to your post. That’s not very efficient.
  2. Use the Publicize feature in JetPack to auto-publish a link to your post. That’s efficient, but it just auto publishes immediately. The time of publication may not be the best time to post on each specific platform.
  3. Leverage a social media dashboard solution to publish your update with a link to your blog post at the optimal time for each platform. That can be a bit of a hassle because you have to jump into another program to schedule your posts.

With options 1 & 3 you have an added problem if you are scheduling your blog post for future publication. The social media platform you use may not allow future scheduling of a social media update. If it does, you have to remember to reschedule all your updates if you decide to reschedule when your blog post goes live.

Wouldn’t it be cool if there were a solution to manage your blogging and social media updates together? Guess what! There is such a solution, and we use it. It’s called CoSchedule.

social media & editorial calendarCoSchedule is a drag-and-drop editorial calendar for WordPress that allows you to manage your blog posts and social media messages within the same scheduling interface. One of my favorite CoSchedule features involves rescheduling blog posts: if I move a blog post from one date to another, all of my scheduled social media messages move with it. That feature is sweet!

Key features for this lightweight WordPress plugin include:

  • Drag-And-Drop Editorial Calendar
  • Schedule Social Media While You Blog
  • Team Communications
  • Automated Social Scheduling & Publishing
  • All-In-One Publishing Solution

You can save time and grow traffic all from one centralized solution within your WordPress admin.

Create & Manage Blog Assignments

CoSchedule makes it easy for Jackson Marketing Services to assign and manage blog posts as a team. To create an assignment, all you do is click the pencil icon on the date you want to schedule a post. You are then presented with this interface where you can enter details about the post and assign an author.

After a post is scheduled/assigned, you can open it from within the CoSchedule calendar and add notes and tasks.

It’s a great way to manage your blog with multiple authors.

Social Scheduling

In addition to team management options, scheduling social updates for your blog post is a snap with CoSchedule. Beneath your WordPress content area, you can access CoSchedule’s scheduling functionality. From directly within WordPress, you can select the profiles to share your blog post to, pick the post type, and schedule the date and time you want your update to post.
